3 films,
made by hand.

Every Monkey Business film is built the same way — locally, stubbornly, with the people next door — and sent out into the world to be seen.

The Studio & Its Founder

Big stories,
small town.

Spencer Sherry — founder, writer & director

Monkey Business Endeavors is an independent film studio in Saratoga Springs, in New York's Capital Region. Since 2021 it has made films the hand-built way — local cast, local crew, real places — proving that festival-caliber work doesn't have to come from Los Angeles.

“Filmmaking is a collaborative art.”

— Spencer Sherry

The studio is the work of Spencer Sherry — a writer, director, producer and editor who got his start by becoming the first person Stephen King ever authorized to adapt The Monkey. What began as a single horror film has grown into a small, restless body of work that swings from cursed-toy dread to Spanish-language fable.

Beyond his own films, Sherry is president of the 518 Film Network and a community outreach and grants coordinator at Saratoga Arts, where much of his energy goes to pulling other local filmmakers up alongside him. He treats the whole endeavor as art first, business second — and it shows.
